Bust of Che Guevara before sleepy plaza
"¡Hasta la victoria siempre!" reads the inscription below this bust of Che Guevara. "30 aniversario de la caida del Che en Bolivia. 1967-1997. Mexico." Stumbled upon it near the main entrance to the gorgeous Academia de San Carlos. In the plaza there, homeless men slept on the benches in hot midday sun.

Among the many things I love about el Defe is the outrageous amount of statues and public art.
Daniel, if you get a chance, check out the statue of Tin Tan in the Zona Rosa on Calle Genova, right near la Reforma, and the randomly placed statue of Marshal Tito at the northern end of Chapultepec, kind of by the Museo Nacional de Antropolgia. Worth your while.

Ida rather put a statue of Augusto Pinochet...a much better person to celebrate than Che.
