Maniac Eduardo Verastegui hearts Prop. 8, McCain

"Sizzling," "hot," "Latino" Eduardo Verastegui is telling Spanish-speaking voters in California that they should vote 'Yes' on Prop. 8 because it "helps families and kids." How? Well, actually it doesn't, but that isn't the point, as long as you hit all the brown-n-proud cliches while hammering home a message of discrimination and exclusion. "As a Latino man proud of my community," he says in the clip, "I feel I have been called to fight for traditional marriage between a man and a woman."

Verastegui, a native of Tamaulipas and non-U.S. citizen McCain stumper, also lends his face to a fairly despicable screed against reproductive rights for women, and Barack Obama, whose positions he recklessly distorts. Verastegui's Wiki says he attends Mass daily, and IMDB says he practices abstinence. Hmm.

Voters in California, one hopes, are smarter. The lunacy of people like this clown, and the current Republican nominee for Vice President, is a stark reminder that religious fundamentalism in any form must be rejected as a tool of division, intolerance, and violence. Verastegui is an embarrassment.

OK, ask anyone in Mexico “in the know” in the entertainment industry, and they will tell that Eduardo is GAY, closet or not.

He came to the US, lived with Ricki Martin, fell in love with him, but Ricki dumped him. He is known to be gay, but all of a sudden he starts to have issues with being dumped and gay, and decides to go “religioso”.

I practice abstinence and I am NOT gay. I admire Eduardo for his stance to speak up for what he believes in, regardless of it being "unpopular." So what if he has commited "Hollywood Suicide" ...perhaps fame isn't that important to him anymore. Ok, I have to say that I am very insulted/infuriated/hurt by Eduardo's attempt to influence the Latino vote in the US against Obama. While I do find it admirable that he is very passionate about Catholicism and his faith, and respect his opinion in regards to measures 4 and 8 although I don't agree with them (and I still consider myself just as Catholic as the next person, but thats another story)his attempt to sway the Latino vote against the Obama Biden ticket because of the religion's stance on these topics is not only insulting to the Latino community in the US, but downright dangerous. There are such things as gay rights for domestic partners in California. Let's be aware of this before we get all EMOTIONAL and don't see things factually but rather through the hyper ventillation of protestors.

Straight people have as many rights as do gays. Say what? Yeah. You read it right. What is wrong with straight people wanting to preserve something? Don't gay groups have their very own agendas? Verastegui I think is admirable for going with what he believes in in spite of critics. I'm not at all a supporter of the religious Right in the US and I truly dislike his association with McCain, but he has as much a right to believe in what he does as you Daniel have a right to believe in what you do. The thing is, he's been been there done that. You on the other hand judge people of conservative ideals, and apparently don't even try to understand them, their views, their whys and can't fathom that they can be complex individuals with complex politics.
