Norma Hernandez visited me from San Diego-Tijuana for fiestas patrias in September. We patriotically drank and ate on a trajinera at Xochimilco, had chiles en nogada, and watched the military parade at the Zócalo, which was then overtaken by thousands of families with kids wielding enormous inflated pencil ornaments.
She loved it. Today, November 8, Norma turns ... one year elegantly older. Happy Birthday, mom!
Awww. How sweet! This made me think of my mom, and how much fun we'd have if she came to visit. Hopefully next year.

That's great.
Im sure ahora que ya eres un adulto- you've gotten closer to your mama as i have to mine.
I like to pick my moms brain and hear stories of the past-her experiences and thoughts.
Even though mi mama is more like Diana Bracho than Carmen Salinas, todavia de ves en cuando le gusta comprar un tamal o elote de los carritos ambulantes por East Los and now here in Montebello too :)
