NPR's Mandalit del Barco had an extended look today at the L.A. fight against gangs, with stops at an early-morning arrest at the home of a Piru banger in Pacoima, and direct words from a cholo from San Fer at a park in Sylmar. He tells her: "There's never gonna be peace between gang members and no one's ever
gonna stop gang banging ... I mean it might slow down, but it's
never gonna stop. There's too many gangs." Listen here.
* The piece also visits the memorial for Lilly Rodriguez, a true champion, and a soldier against bloodshed on the streets. The Daily News reminds us Rodriguez was "more than just a fighter."
