Remember, back in the day, the party crews? Kids with the walls in their rooms plastered floor-to-ceiling with party fliers? I thought that stuff stayed in the 90s. Now check out Christine Pelisek's LA Weekly cover story on the "Vicious Ladies," an all-girl party crew out of East L.A. Reading this made me want to get reacquainted with the meta-pop version of the classic East L.A. homegirl, Little Loca, a.k.a Stevie Ryan, on YouTube. Loca is Ryan's alter-ego, a straight-A student chola from East L.A. who throws up two fingers like a gang sign to make a "V" -- for virgin. Ryan is an aspiring actress from the high desert. She told me in an interview back before she started blowing up that she grew up with girls like Loca. Pretty brilliant. Little Loca looks and talks almost exactly like a cousin of mine in San Jose. Swear. Here's Loca at "Silent Girl's tio's barber shop." Enjoy, ey ... n'stuff:
* Update July 3, 2017 — Rest in peace, Little Loca.
