Nothing makes you feel like you live in an exciting city more than local scandals involving power and sex. Look at New York. And San Francisco, whose residents tend to be unyielding in their delusion that their city is somehow more sophisticated than ours. But let's give them credit where credit's due: their mayor, Gavin Newsom, was sleeping with a subordinate's wife, the Chronicle screams! I mean, how cosmopolitan is that?!
