The U.S. State Department is pressing for a full investigation of the killing of a migrant worker organizer from Toledo, Ohio, Santiago Rafael Cruz, in Monterrey, Mexico earlier this month. The United Farm Workers sent out an alert on Wednesday urging for the same. Cruz was killed at the Monterrey office of the Farm Labor Organizing Committee (FLOC) on April 9. He was found gagged and beaten. Milenio says labor organizers in Monterrey face constant harassment. Meanwhile, The Christian Science Moniter reports that violence is on the rise along the border as controls tighten.
