There were no arrests or injuries at the immigrant rights march and rally do-over at MacArthur Park today, new Deputy Chief Sergio Diaz told me an hour ago tonight at the western edge of park. There were two minor incidents, he said: officers stopped one kid from picking up rocks inside the park, and held down one guy who Diaz said was dangerously wielding large flagpoles earlier during the march on Wilshire Boulevard. The LAPD was on its best behavior all day. Chief Bratton, on the sidewalks, greeted marchers and posed for pictures -- and ran into a few people yelling at him to be fired. Check back soon for a full dispatch on today's events. Meantime, the Senate announced an immigration reform package, but the fight has only just begun.
